The notorious lunch moocher J. Wellington Wimpy of Popeye cartoon fame would go into serious debt in the Philadelphia area if he tried to sample all of the available offerings at Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant this month.
In observance of National Burger Month, the regional microbrewery and pub has launched a month-long celebration of burgers at all 10 Iron Hill locations.
In an attempt to top last year’s formidable lineup, the kitchens at all 10 locations will be slinging original concoctions such as The Bahn Mi Burger (pickled veggies, cucumber, sriracha mayo and cilantro; May 7), The Jersey Diner Burger (Taylor pork roll, fried egg, cheddar and ketchup; May 18), The Spanish Burger (manchego, chorizo and romesco sauce; May 22) and The Hot Mess (sweet potato fries, jalapeño, bacon, onion, bread and butter pickles, lettuce and Thousand Island dressing; May 27).
With 31 days on the calendar, the list of specials borders on staggering.
While there’s no option to defer payment, Wimpy-esque gluttony will certainly be rewarded — a special punch card gives customers $15 credit for every five burgers purchased.
