Celebrate 40 years of the Clay Studio with 40 straight hours of pottery-related programming at Fired Up at 40: A Celebration, a largely free creative event at the Old City studio.
Today, May 9 and tomorrow, May 10, head out for a variety of events.
The celebration kicks off this morning at 10 a.m. with Raku Pottery Firing, an ancient Japanese technique where hot pottery is pulled out of the kiln. Watch daring artists take on this daring feat with fellow community members and Clay Studio artists.
Be sure to stop by tonight as local artist Candy Coated whips up imaginative drinks made with her Little Baby’s Ice Cream flavor, Jazzmarnier for a cocktail hour from 6 to 8 p.m.
Also look forward to sunrise yoga, family-friendly art workshops, wheel battles between studio artists and Occupation, an overnight installation in which two artists will transform hundreds of pounds of clay into ceramic cups. Occupation opens today at 10 a.m. and will be open through 6 p.m. tomorrow night.
The full rundown of 40th anniversary events is available right here.
Fired Up at Forty culminates with a fundraising event at the American Street Showroom on Saturday, May 10 from 6 to 11 p.m. Enjoy food, a silent auction and mingling with fellow art-lovers. Tickets cost $250 and are available online.
