Year after year, Mother’s Day weekend brings a score of special events to Philadelphia.

Beginning today, the annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta fills the Schuylkill River with more than 100 collegiate crew teams for two full days of high-energy races. The regatta is free to watch and the sidelines, along Kelly Drive, are a great place for cheering on the teams, hanging alfresco with friends and some healthy competition. Check out our spectator’s guide to the regatta.

Along Philadelphia’s other river, the Delaware River, the Art Star Craft Bazaar pops up for its 11th year of handcrafted items made by artists from across the nation and carefully-curated live music. Buy mom one-of-a-kind fashion, accessories, home decor and more at the two-day shopping soiree and check here for our guide.

It’s no secret that Philly’s parks are expansive and straight up awesome, from Fairmount Park to Penn Treaty Park, our public outdoor spaces are made for festivals, impromptu sports games, picnicking and lounging. Raise a hat to the more than 10,000 acres of open space as “Love Your Park Week” returns for its third year of programming on Saturday. The festival kicks off tomorrow with a citywide clean up day at a number of the city’s parks.

For those looking for some last-minute Mother’s Day plans, check out our picks for dinners, brunch and events across the city.

And that’s not all, this weekend also hosts its fair share of neighborhood festivals, food truck gatherings, farmers’ markets and more. Plus, it’s going to be 80 degrees all weekend long.
