Don’t let a few showers dampen enthusiasm for the weekend.
The weekend forecast is ideal, with temps in the 70s and mostly sunny skies, are perfect for a welcomed deluge of alfresco weekend activities.
Tomorrow, the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival and Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby arrive to the streets of Fishtown and Kensington. The festivals promise plenty of shopping from local artisans, a solid lineup of food trucks, craft beer and a fantastical design competition and derby of human-powered floats. Don’t miss it.
On both Saturday and Sunday, Italian and international food and drink takes the spotlight at the popular Italian Market Festival which takes over 9th Street from Fitzwater to Federal streets. The weekend-long festival also happens to be one of the city’s best-attended block parties, so get ready.
This Sunday also marks International Museum Day, an annual celebration of the world’s museums and their impact on global cultures. In honor of the celebration, five of our well-loved museums are set to swing their doors open for free — the Philadelphia Museum of Art, PAFA, ICA and the Brandywine River Museum of Art.
Read on for our guide to the weekend’s happenings.
