It’s easy to imagine how many promising designers are out there just waiting to be discovered.
In Philadelphia, some of that talent is harnessed by the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, a non-profit fashion education initiative that’s in its third year of supporting a class of designers-in-residence at a custom studio in Macy’s Center City.
The 2014 class of designers have been hard at work developing hand-crafted collections — and now some of those looks will be on sale, ready for local fashion lovers to scoop up.
As of today, Wednesday, June 25, the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator Summer Pop-Up Pop-In Shop is open on Main Street in Manayunk for a five-day fashion moment.
Head to the temporary boutique to shop one-of-a-kind garments, handbags, jewelry and accessories made by 2014 designers-in-residence Gabrielle Mandel, Jovan O’Connor, Rebecca Imperiano, Victoria Wright, Terese Brown and Sherrill Mosee. Plus, looks for former designers-in-residence Melissa Choi, Pia Panaligan, Annina King and Trisha Williams will be on-hand, too.
Tonight, from 5 to 8 p.m., the pop-up shop throws its doors open for a grand opening fete with refreshments and the chance to meet the designers in person.
The pop up will continue to host hours daily, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., through this Sunday, June 29,
Check here for more event information, and stay tuned for the happenings du jour from Philadelphia’s fresh crop of design talent.
