It’s time to raise a brew to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, folks. The 2014 PHS Pop-Up Garden opens on South Street on today Tuesday, July 8 at 5:30 p.m.
As we’ve mentioned, this year’s installment of the pop-up garden will make its home at 15th and South streets, in the grassy lot right next to the Jamaican Jerk Hut, and revive last year’s awesome beer garden concept.
On South Street, PHS has outfitted the outdoor space to hold around 300 visitors at a time, adorning the lot with artful elements transplanted from the Flower Show, along with planned elements like palm trees and lights.
And what’s on tap for 2014 refreshments? A selection of craft beers including brews from Yards Brewing Company, 21st Amendment and Flying Fish, tropical cocktails, and a rotating roster of food trucks and Caribbean dishes served by the Jerk Hut.
The seven-days-a-week spot will open Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., at 2 p.m on Saturdays and noon on Sundays.
Food and drink will be available during the week Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and until midnight on Fridays. On Saturday, food and drink is served from 2 p.m. to midnight; Sunday service is from noon to 10 p.m.
Expect special events and activities to pop up along with the garden, too. On Thursday, July 10, join Unite Fitness for a PHS Fun Run. Donate $10 per person, go on a run and get a free drink.
Then on Friday, July 11, make plans to raise a glass to this awesome summertime hangout during the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series happy hour at the PHS Pop-Up Garden. The weekly Friday celebration takes turns at six beer gardens over 12 weeks and includes food and beer specials, games and giveaways.
