In celebration of the Taney Dragons’ awesome run in the Little League World Series — the local team made it all the way to the semi-final round — the city will host a parade, tomorrow, August 27 beginning at 2 p.m..
The parade is set to leave from 20th and Market streets at 2 p.m. and continue East on Market Street, around City Hall and continue South on Broad Street to South Philly’s FDR Park.
The parade will make stops at The Kimmel Center for a performance by the Philly POPS! at about 2:30 p.m., and will also stop at Broad Street and Washington Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. for a performance by the Mummers.
Wrapping up in South Philly, the parade will culminate at 4 p.m. with a rally at FDR Park near the south side baseball fields. For more information about the parade route and stops, click here.
Following the parade, the Phillies will join the fun with a pre-game tribute to the Taney Dragons on the field led by Mayor Nutter and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies are even doing a special ticket offer – with select tickets going for half-price – for the game and with $6 of the proceeds from those tickets sold going to benefit Taney Little League. Plus, all guests will receive a Taney Dragons t-shirt. Tickets, which start at just $14, are available online.
Welcome home, Taney Dragons! You certainly made Philadelphia very proud.
