A marvelous spectacle of circus arts comes to town in a big way next month with the return of Cirque du Soleil to Philadelphia, bringing its arena production Varekai to the Wells Fargo Center, September 10-14.
From its humble beginnings as a group of 20 street performers in 1984, Cirque du Soleil is now one of the biggest names in entertainment with dynamic shows around the globe — there are currently 19 on view all across the world.
In Philadelphia, for seven performances only over five days, Varekai takes Cirque’s big-top style into the massive Wells Fargo Center arena for an all out circus extravaganza.
A show of 12 acts featuring more than 50 artists and musicians from 18 different countries, Varekai (which translates as means “wherever” in the Romany language of the gypsies) showcases both traditional circus stunts and more contemporary acts, including everything from Georgian dance and juggling to aerial hoops and Russian swings.
Tickets to Varekai at the Wells Fargo Center are available online, so reserve today.
