Summer isn’t quite over, but the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is already planning for fall.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the grounds of The Navy Yard will welcome seasoned gardeners and garden-enthusiasts for a full day of plant-centric festivities, plus the addition of a one-day pop up Franklin Flea Market and a Yards Brewing Company Beer Garden.
Throughout the day, festivalgoers can shop the marketplace, which sells variety of freshly-grown local produce, plants, gardening tools and home decor. Also, browse the PHS City Harvest Market which will be stocked with locally grown, organic produce. Learn more about your at-home garden at DIY workshops and from a number of on-site expert gardeners, too.
Plus, shoppers can look forward to the Franklin Flea standard of super-high-quality vendors peddling a finely tuned selection of fine antiques and vintage clothing to handmade decorative arts and up-cycled furniture.
Attendees can also check out some of the biggest pumpkins, cabbages, and other freshly-grown items at the Garden Giants contest. Also, the Garden Bounty contest welcomes expertly arranged flowers, vegetables and herbs from your garden.
Pair the day-long events with an alfresco beer at the Yards Brewing Company Beer Garden, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Urban gardens, suburban gardens, fall gardens, pop-up gardens…celebrate them all at this all day fest.
Bonus: Get an exclusive peek at the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show which will center around the theme of Lights, Camera, Bloom.
In the mean time, don’t miss out on visiting the PHS Pop-Up Garden on South Street, which remains open daily through October.
