Spruce Street Harbor Park

Another late-summer weekend is here, Philadelphia. Look forward to outdoor concerts, shopping markets, festivals, after-hours museum events and much more. (Photo by Matt Stanley courtesy Delaware River Waterfront Corporation)

Don’t let the threat of a drizzle put a damper on your weekend plans. Instead, start the weekend with an alfresco beer.

Tonight marks the second-to-last week of the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series, and tonight, it hits Independence Beer Garden with $4 pints of Yards Philly Pale Ale, $4 pretzel bites and free summer swag giveaways beginning at 4 p.m.

In celebration of the weekend, both The Barnes Foundation and The Philadelphia Museum of Art open their doors tonight for after-hours art, drinks, music and more.

And definitely make plans to hang out at Spruce Street Harbor Park the awesome pop-up park on the waterfront, before it closes for the season next weekend. Have dinner at the floating Garces restaurant, sip a beer in the beer garden or play games along the boardwalk.

Also, don’t miss the very cool exhibition about Frank Gehry’s Master Plan for the Philadelphia Museum of ArtMaking a Classic Modern – which runs through Monday, September 1 (leaving only a little over a week to take in the exhibition!).

Read on for our guide to this weekend.
