This Sunday, April 5, Franklin Square gets into the Easter spirit with its annual Great Egg Hunt, a free family-friendly afternoon event in Old City.

Beginning at 10 a.m., families are invited to head to the lawn of the historic park to prepare for the egg collection, which is recommended for kids under 10. Registration is a must, and available on-site from 10 to 11 a.m.

Once kids are registered, all the little ones can take off into the park to search out eggs filled with candy and other surprises hidden around the Franklin Square playground.

Following the hunt, families can stick around the park to play Philly Mini Golf, ride the Liberty Carousel or just take in views of the vintage marble fountain.

Plus, Franklin Square’s SquareBurger — Stephen Starr’s popular burger, hot dog and milkshake joint — will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with grab-and-go grub like the classic burgers, hot dogs, fries and — by far the Franklin Square fave — the Cake Shake, a vanilla custard milkshake blended with Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets and caramel sauce.

A slew more special events are on the schedule for later this spring, too, including twilight yoga on May 6 at 6:30 p.m., Mother’s Day Brunch in the Square on Sunday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the annual An Evening in Franklin Square fundraiser on May 14.
