It was one of the most talked about eats of the summer, but unlike luxuriously long days, hammock-strewn pop-up gardens and mega concerts on the Parkway, Federal Donuts’ fried chicken sandwich doesn’t have to depart with the season.
CookNSolo’s Federal Donuts has now installed its wildly popular fried chicken sandwich on its regular menu at locations all across the city.
First introduced at its shipping container pop-up shop in Spruce Street Harbor Park – where more than 21,000 sandwiches have already been sold this summer – and later offered for exclusive periods at its bricks and mortar shops, the sandwich inspired rave reviews and long lines.
The sandwich is simple, but oh-so carefully composed: a Martin’s potato roll stuffed with twice-fried boneless chicken breast spiked with buttermilk ranch seasoning, plus American cheese, Rooster sauce and dill pickle chips.
Though the sandwich can still be enjoyed at its waterfront Port FedNuts location until September 27, the tasty little number, priced at a reasonable $6.75, can be pre-ordered for pickup at any of FedNuts’ four locations after 11 a.m.: Center City, University City, Northern Liberties and Pennsport.
It’s also available for delivery to homes and businesses through Caviar.
