The African American Museum's newest exhibition opens today with a free reception featuring wine and light refreshments. Tone Poems & Light Stories: The Great Migration  focuses on the Great Migration, a time (1916-1929) when masses of African-Americans migrated to escape Southern racial oppression. The museum called on five artists to create audio and/or visual works that celebrate the impact of five Philadelphia institutions on the Great Migration.
