Now in its 10th year, the Roots Picnic has become a summer tradition and features performances from some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B.
Curated by and named after Philadelphia’s own critically acclaimed band The Roots, the Roots Picnic is famous for bringing out amazing talent — and this year is no different.
Legendary music producer and artist Pharrell Williams will be performing with the Roots as his backing band and superstar rapper Lil’ Wayne will also be on hand to perform his countless hits.
For the soul music lovers out there, R&B star Solange is also headlining what looks to be another incredible Roots Picnic.
The Music & Scene
Known for its strong emphasis on stars in hip-hop andR &B, this year’s Roots Picnic has a healthy dose of great acts from both genres.
In addition to its famous headliners, this year’s Roots Picnic features talented up-and-comers like Thundercat and Playboy Carti.
For even more hometown flavor, acts like rapper PNB Rock and DJ Quite Hype will be representing Philly onstage at the Roots Picnic.
Plus, a wide variety of local food and merchandise vendors will be on-site for eating, drinking, shopping and more. Look out for free swag from Visit Philly, too!
How To Get Tickets
Tickets to this year’s Roots Picnic are $75 and are available online. Ticket prices increase on Thursday, June 1, so snap up yours now.
Unless it’s a sellout, tickets will also be available the day of the festival at the Festival Pier box office.
Getting There And Staying Over
The Roots Picnic is accessible by public transit via the Market-Frankford Line by getting off at the Spring Garden stop and walking east to Penn’s Landing.
For those driving, Festival Pier is accessible via I-676 for those coming from outside of Philly or by going south on either Race Street or Market Street for those in Philly.
