Weekend Picks: Opening Of The Midway At Summerfest, Manayunk Arts Festival, Summer Fun And More

Awesome ways to spend your weekend in Philadelphia...

It’s the first official weekend of summer (!) and throughout the city, the weekend is marked with huge festivals, openings of major warm-weather attractions, beer gardens and so much more.

The weekend starts off with the grand opening of The Midway at Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest. The new attraction brings boardwalk-style rides and games (a Ferris wheel, carousel and more) to the waterfront attraction, kicking off a full summer of fun in the sun. To mark the grand opening, Biz Markie will DJ a free performance at Summerfest.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the mega Manayunk Arts Festival returns to Main Street with a showcase from nearly 300 talented artisans, food and more.

Also all weekend, the All-American BBQ continues at Dilworth Park, offering up the chance to take advantage of all that is quintessential summer barbecues in America (beer, burgers, music, lawn games) in a fun public park.

Be sure to follow Uwishunu on Twitter and Instagram for updates throughout the weekend.
