Philadelphia’s Giant Free Streets Day To Return This October

Walk, run or bike along seven miles of car-free roads for one day only this fall...

Get excited, Philadelphia: The second-ever Philly Free Streets Day will hit the city on Saturday, October 28.

Philly Free Streets is a day where major thoroughfares throughout the city completely close to vehicular traffic and open up to pedestrians, runners and cyclists.

This year, Philly Free Streets covers seven miles of the city’s roads — from parts of Philadelphia’s Historic District up into El Centro de Oro (The Golden Block) in North Philadelphia. The exact route will run from 3rd and Chestnut streets to 5th Street and Indiana Avenue.

The event is slated to run for the entire morning and into the afternoon on Saturday, October 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Philly Free Streets is returning to celebrate the walkability of the city and Philadelphia’s cultural diversity.

The event also encourages exercise among the people who call Philadelphia home and aims to bring people to different parts of our beautiful city.

Guests are encouraged to join in the fun at any point throughout the seven-mile route and are also encouraged to pop into the businesses that they pass along the way. Plus, there will be a bevy of fun, free activities (chalk art, live painting from Mural Arts and more!) for guests to take part in.
