Folk music fans know that Philadelphia is the place to be next weekend. Why? Because the 56th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival is back from August 17-20.
This harmonious gathering is the longest-running outdoor music festival of its kind in North America, and this year’s program of performances is guaranteed to delight attendees of all ages.
- The 56th Philadelphia Folk Festival will take place from August 17-20 in Montgomery County.
- More than 100 bands and musical acts are set to perform at this massive event.
- Tickets start at $65 per person for a one-day pass. Multi-day passes are also available.
- Attendees are invited to camp on site for an additional fee.
The Philadelphia Folk Festival will take place at Old Pool Farm in Schwenksville in Montgomery County, roughly 35 miles outside of the city. Just for the occasion, the 80-acre working farm will be transformed into a musical wonderland where more than 100 different acts will entertain guests throughout the weekend. TajMo, Graham Nash and Old Crow Medicine Show are just a few of the talented performers set to take the stage.
Elsewhere, vendors will be on hand selling their unique wares and, of course, there will be plenty of delicious bites to enjoy when hunger strikes.
The festival will also offer kid’s activities like craft making and performances geared specifically toward children. The Give & Take Jugglers, a perennial favorite, will wow onlookers and teach folks how to juggle.
Tickets, Camping and More
A variety of different ticket options — ranging from single-day passes to full-festival passes — are available starting at $65 per person. Attendees ages 12-17 get in for a discounted rate, and kids under 12 enter for free. Camping overnight on the farm grounds — either in a tent or an RV — is encouraged, but a camping ticket is required.
Festival organizers have made it easier than ever to navigate the weekend-long affair thanks to an event-specific app. Download the app to your smartphone before you go and you’ll have maps, schedules and more at your fingertips throughout the entire festival run.
