Weekend Picks: Fireflies, Philly Music Fest, Fall for the Arts Festival, Puerto Rican Festival Parade And More

Enjoy the first official weekend of fall with these exciting events and activities...

It’s officially the first weekend of fall, Philadelphia, which means this is the first of many autumn weekends packed with amazing things to do.

This Saturday is Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Live!, which means 15 museums and attractions in the region — the African American Museum, Independence Seaport Museum, the Philadelphia History Museum and more — are offering free admission.

It’s also another big weekend for performing arts of all sorts. The inaugural two-day Philly Music Fest hits University City with 25-plus local bands as well as excellent regional food and drink.

And it’s the last weekend for two major arts festivals — don’t miss your chance to catch one of the dozens of Fringe Festival shows citywide or one of the buzzed-about O17 performances.

Elsewhere, there’s free fancifully lit pedicab rides on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (Fireflies), the kick off of the country’s largest haunted house (Terror Behind the Walls), major street fests and parades (Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts, Puerto Rican Festival Parade) and much more.

Be sure to follow Uwishunu on Twitter and Instagram for updates throughout the weekend.
