Presented by the Fishtown Neighbors Association and YELP, the RiverCity Festival offers a daylong outdoor fun fest overlooking the Delaware River.
The lineup of live musical acts includes Candy Volcano, Creem Circus, Mika, Maitland and Ali Wadsworth. Local businesses and craft vendors will be on site selling their wares throughout the event.
The beer garden — a festival favorite — returns with brews provided by the Philadelphia Brewing Company, Yards Brewing, 2nd Story Brewing, Kurant Cider, Fishtown Brewpub, Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company and Philly Homebrew with Evil Genius Brewing.
Plus, St. Benjamin’s Brewing will pour its very special RiverCity Oktoberfest Lager.
Kids are sure to be entertained, too, as the festival offers games and activities like a moon bounce, an inflatable obstacle course and magic shows. A Pet Tent will also be on site, with representatives from the PSPCA, ACCT Philly and other local, animal-focused organizations.
RiverCity 5K Run
Before the festival, the day starts with a 5K fun run that winds through the historic streets of Philly’s vibrant Fishtown neighborhood. The route will highlight noteworthy art all over the neighborhood, and locals will line the course to cheer on the athletes.
Registration is open now, so be sure to snag your spot — only 250 runners will be allowed to enter.
Participants who are over 21 years old can enter for $25, a fee that includes two beverages to enjoy in the RiverCity Hospitality Tent after the race.
Runners who are under 21 or who don’t plan on drinking can register for $15. If there’s still room for additional participants on the day of the event, registration costs $30 for drinkers and $20 for non-drinkers.
Penn Treaty Park is located at 1199 N. Delaware Avenue at E. Columbia Avenue. Street parking is limited, but there are plenty of easy ways to get there.
Take SEPTA’s Market-Frankford subway line to Girard Avenue and Front Street; from there it’s a 10-minute walk to the fun. The #43 bus stops right at the park. Or, consider borrowing a bike from Indego, Philly’s bike-share program, and take advantage of the festival’s bicycle valet service.
