Weekend Picks: Halloween Happenings, Philly Free Streets, Head Of The Schuylkill Regatta And More

Have a scary good time at autumn events this weekend...

Philadelphia marks the last weekend in October with a ton of special events and cool exhibitions — as well as plenty of Halloween scares.

Looking for a departure from the norm? Philly Free Streets opens up 3.5 miles of some of the city’s busiest streets to walkers, joggers and bikers for car-free exploration as well as fun activity zones all along the route.

Halloween may be on Tuesday, but you can start your spooky celebrations this weekend with tons of Halloween events and festivities — think Terror Behind the Walls, Halloween movie nights at The Schmidt’s Commons, parties at major cultural institutions and so much more.

For sports fans, the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta — one of the largest rowing competitions in the world — is back for its 47th year, welcoming 8,000 athletes and 30,000 spectators to the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park.

And popular Mexican celebration Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) kicks off with events at the Penn Museum, the Fleisher Art Memorial and more.
