The popular Philadelphia International Unity Cup — an annual World Cup-style soccer tournament created to promote support, inclusion and appreciation for the city’s immigrant communities — hosts its free-to-attend championship game between Sierra Leone and Liberia this Saturday, November 11, at Lincoln Financial Field.

Overview

The Philadelphia Unity Cup, sponsored by Goya and facilitated by the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation, was established by Mayor Jim Kenney in 2016.

In recent weeks, 48 teams representing 47 countries of origin — and one team of refugees — have vied to compete in this year’s championship game.

Now, the final two teams left standing in the tournament — Liberia (last year’s runner-up) and Sierra Leone (the No. 1 seed heading into the knock-out round) — will face off for the 2017 Philadelphia International Unity Cup on the grand stage at Lincoln Financial Field at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 11.

Also on the docket for the day are a youth game, a third-place game (Puerto Rico vs. Jamaica), a naturalization ceremony and a parade of nations, culminating with the much-anticipated championship match at 6 p.m.

Tickets and More

Tickets to the Philadelphia International Unity Cup Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field are free for spectators. They’ll be available for pick up on November 11 from 1-6 p.m. at the Unity Cup ticketing table outside the Northeast gate of the stadium.

Attendees can take SEPTA’s Broad Street subway line to AT&T Station or drive and park in Lot K.
