Penn Hosts #21 Harvard This Friday Night At The Palestra

It’s not every year that the Ivy League has a team ranked in the Top 25 in the nation. But this year they do. And it’s the Harvard Crimson, who at 20-2 on the season, are now ranked #21 in the country. Harvard is coming to town this Friday night for a showdown with the Penn Quakers at the Palestra. The atmosphere at the Palestra is going to be electric, with Penn’s student section coming out in full force for the big rivalry game. Moreover, the postseason implications: Penn is 4-1 in the Ivy League and needs a win to improve their chances at the Ivy League crown. Tickets are $14. [Penn vs. Harvard]

The Sixers Host Two Of The NBA’s Best At The Wells Fargo Center This Week; Also Introduce New $7,676 Half-Court Shot Promotion

Tonight’s game against the Chicago Bulls begins a ten-day stretch of games against the NBA’s elite teams for the Sixers, who currently have an impressive 15-6 overall record and hold a 4.5 game lead over the Celtics for first place in the Atlantic Division.

After a visit from 2011 NBA MVP Derrick Rose and his Chicago Bulls tonight, the Sixers will host the infamous Miami Heat, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, the perennially successful Spurs and several other playoff-caliber teams, all at the Wells Fargo Center over the next two weeks. Thanks to the Sixers’ red-hot start this season, fans have been packing the place as of late, so be sure to grab your tickets soon.

New $7,676 Half Court Promotion

If the playoff-level match-ups and great basketball aren’t enough to convince you to see the team in person, the Sixers are giving fans a chance to win $7,676 during the game with the recently instated Half Court Shot Contest. At halftime of upcoming home games, two men and two women will be selected from the crowd to attempt shots from half court in an effort to win a cool $7,676. Not bad at all.

The Sixers Host Two Bobblehead Giveaway Nights This Weekend At The Wells Fargo Center

This weekend, the first-place Sixers are hosting back-to-back bobblehead giveaway nights starting with guard Jrue Holiday on Friday night (with a very special guest slated to be in attendance), followed by coach Doug Collins on Saturday. The bobblehead fun continues on February 8, when the team gives away Lou Williams bobbleheads during their matchup with the Spurs.

Sixers fans can also look forward to four rally towel giveaways at four upcoming home games in March and April. The rally towels will feature images of eight Sixers players and will provide some additional excitement to several big matchups. Click here for the full schedule of giveaways. The First-Place Sixers Introduce A New “Super 6″ Game Package, With Tickets To Six Home Games Starting At Just $60

Sixers fans, the great news keeps pouring in!

The red-hot Sixers, who have won nine out of their last 10 games, are currently in first place in the Atlantic Division and have yet to lose a game at home this season. Making this the perfect time to catch the team live at the Wells Fargo Center.

The team, which is already offering a number of great ticket packages and discounts, has just announced the Super 6 Game Package, allowing fans to purchase tickets to six select home games — starting at just $60.

That’s $60 total, meaning tickets start at just $10 each per game for these marquee match-ups against the Magic, Bulls and Heat, as long as you buy the six-game package.

The games included in Super 6 Game Package are:

• January 30, 7:00 p.m. vs Orlando Magic
• February 1, 7:00 p.m. vs Chicago Bulls
• February 3, 7:00 p.m. vs Miami Heat
• February 8, 7:00 p.m. vs San Antonio Spurs
• March 9, 7:00 p.m. vs Utah Jazz
• April 13, 7:00 p.m. vs New Jersey Nets

While the games are pre-selected, fans do have the option to swap out one game in the plan for another select Sixers home game. And as another added bonus, fans who purchase partial season-ticket plans can secure priority seating and lower ticket prices at playoff time.

Sixers Tip Off Their 2012 Home Opener Tonight At The Wells Fargo Center With Dollar Dog Night, New In-Game Entertainment And More

The Sixers are finally home!

After playing their first 5 games on the road, the 76ers will make their home debut tonight at the Wells Fargo Center against the Detroit Pistons. The team fared well on the road trip, winning 3 of their 5 match-ups, positioning them in first-place in the Atlantic Division.

In-Game Highlights

The team is under new ownership and fans will notice a few new features during the game, including new player introductions, Sixers Dream Team (formerly known as the Sixers Dancers) performances and newly produced opening and halftime videos.

Tonight’s home opener will feature two performances by American Idol finalist Ayla Brown — a singing of the Star Spangled Banner before tip-off and a special performance at halftime. And tonight will be the Sixers first Dietz & Watson $1 Hot Dog Night!

The Sixers To Host A Free, Public Scrimmage At The Palestra On Sunday

The 76ers are holding a full-team scrimmage at the University of Pennsylvania’s historic Palestra on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and it’s free and open to the public! Tickets to the event, held at the Palestra with a capacity of 8,000, are free and available to the public upon arrival at the arena’s entrances. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Head coach Doug Collins will be mic’d up during the scrimmage and the Sixers Dance Team and the Dunk Squad will also be in attendance to entertain the fans. [CSN Philly]

The Sixers Begin Their 2011-2012 Season With Reduced Ticket Prices, New Mascot And Much More

Sixers fans, professional basketball has returned to Philadelphia!

The NBA lockout has ended and the 2011-2012 season is officially underway. This means the return of the 76ers, their fans and the NBA’s biggest stars to Wells Fargo Center, very soon. During the offseason, the team welcomed a new ownership group, which has promised an even better fan experience during Sixers home games and lower ticket prices!

Schedule
On Tuesday, the Sixers released their truncated 66-game schedule which begins with two preseason games, with the second game at home on December 20. Then after a quick road trip to begin the regular season, the team returns to the Wells Fargo Center for four straight home games, beginning with the Detroit Pistons in their home opener on January 6, 2012.

Tickets
Tickets for the 2011-2012 season went on sale today and single game tickets and eight-game and ten-game packages are available for purchase.

The team also announced that tickets for all home games in January will cost just $17.76 (clever) or less for seats in the mezzanine level. Nice.

New Mascot Voting
The Sixers are looking for a new mascot and need the fans to help them decide, as three candidates are up for the position: “Big Ben” Franklin, B. Franklin Dogg and Phil E. Moose. Click here to read more about each character’s journey and vote for your favorite. We’re partial to Big Ben ourselves.

With the action finally about to begin on the court, we’re excited to see the Sixers are focused on making this a season worth waiting for!
