Wonderkammer: Cabinets of Wonder @ the Philadelphia International Airport
The Claymobile, a mobile component of Philadelphia’s Clay Studio, partnered up with four local schools to create Wonderkammer: Cabinets of Wonder, an exhibit that shows off the work of several 7th-grade clay artists.
If you’re catching a flight this Summer, you can check out the exhibit at the Philadelphia International Airport, on view between Terminals A-East and B. There are four cabinets, each representing the work of a different school.
The cabinets will be on display through September 2010.

Meritage in Rittenhouse Square, Photo courtesy the restaurant
First Meritage brought back Ansill’s famous Korean short-rib tacos. Now, starting this Thursday, Meritage adds Korean Fried Chicken to their menu.
Reasonably priced at $25, this dinner-for-two will include 5 to 6 pieces of chicken and traditional cold sides; slaw, sesame spinach, and pickled vegetables. According to the restaurant, executive chef Anne Coll marinates the chicken in “sesame, garlic, ginger and onion,” and fries it “not once but twice, to give it a crispier exterior while keeping the center tender and juicy.”
To accompany the dinner, Meritage will also serve Sapporo, a famous Japanese beer. This special will only be available on Thursdays.

Last Year's Global Grooves @ the Kimmel Center
Starting this Thursday, July 15th, the Kimmel Center’s Global Grooves returns for another Summer of shaking it up in the Perelman Theater.
These world music dance parties go down every Thursday night through the end of the month, on the 15th, 22nd, and the 29th.
The Kimmel is dishing out a rather diverse and eclectic line up this year, from Sarazino’s “blend of Latin pop, reggae, funk, African, French and Arabic music” to Bomba Estéreo’s psychedelic cumbia, which mixes folk sounds with contemporary splashes of electronica, reggae, and hip-hop. For more information on the artists performing, visit the official Global Grooves page on the Kimmel Center’s website.
Tickets are $20 for each show, and can be purchased online or at the Kimmel Center’s box office.

Erica over at the Philadelphia Weekly’s Style blog, reports that Apartment Therapy, the incredibly popular home decor & design blog, is hosting a meet-up at Mexican Post this Wednesday, July 14th. Design professionals will be there, ready to answer your questions about wallpaper, paint, sofas, whatever.
Apartment Therapy has featured Philadelphia several times on their site, from highlighting a beautifully decorated rowhome in East Kensington to the Hotel Palomar in Center City. And like Erica, I too think this is a great opportunity to push for a Philly-based Apartment Therapy blog.
Go to the meet-up and make it happen.

Chattering monkeys, singing frogs, a nine-foot forest snake… these all sound like critters you might find running around the Philadelphia Zoo. However, these particular faux creatures can be found at the Please Touch Museum, as part of the museum’s popular Rainforest Rhythm exhibit.
Rainforest Rhythm, a 2,800 square foot exhibit located in the First Floor East Gallery of the museum, teaches children about the awe inspiring sounds of nature, through musical instruments and interactive learning stations.
The exhibit reopens at the Please Touch Museum this Saturday, July 17th, and will run through October 24th, 2010.
