The Kimmel Center is debuting a new edition to their events calendar this week, and I really think you’re going to love it. The weekly world music dance party, Global Grooves, is going to be that exotic vacation you just haven’t found time to take yet. Luckily for you, The Kimmel Center understands and is bringing it right to you, here, in Center City.
Global Grooves is kicking off this week on July 9th and will run through August 6th (excluding July 23). Every Thursday night the Perelman Theatre is going to be transformed into an international dance club, complete with a cash bar.
East African rumba sensation Samba Mapangala and Virunga are starting things off on Thursday July 9th; followed by Cuban-born and Latin sensation CuCu Diamantes on July 16th. Indian Idol judge and Bollywood singer Kailash Kher will help you forget that Global Grooves skipped a week, and will be performing on July 30th. Closing up the Global Grooves dance party is the 10 piece Slavic Soul Party! They’re a high energy Balkan Brass Bash; and they’ll get you groovin’ on August 6th. All show times are at 7:30pm, with ticket prices at $20 per person.
