Celebrate Valentine's Weekend aboard the Mural Arts' Love Train in the City of Brotherly Love. (Photo courtesy Mural Arts Program)
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so it’s probably a good idea to start thinking about how you’re going to spend the weekend.
Here’s one idea: for the second year in a row, the Mural Arts Love Train runs on Valentine’s Day weekend, Sunday, February 13 at 2:30 p.m.
The Love Train, a special holiday iteration of the standard Love Letter Tour, is a unique and romantic experience that features a tour of the Love Letter mural project by Stephen Powers created in the summer of 2009. Powers, along with his crew, painted 50 rooftop murals along the Market Street corridor, spanning from 46th street through 63rd street.
Passengers aboard the Love Train will tour these murals, hear detailed stories about their creation and get out to view the art from the train platforms.
The Love Train also includes a reception with gourmet treats complete with champagne and chocolate, and a screening of the feature film “A Love Letter for You.”
PLUS: Mayor Nutter will be making a special appearance this year, as he will be marrying a lucky couple on board the Love Train, as we mentioned this past December.
Be sure to arrive early to check in and to get your photo snapped in front of the Love Statue. You’ll also receive complimentary hot cocoa.
Reserve your spot fast because this event is sure to sell out. Attendance is limited to 360 passengers.
Tickets for the Love Train can be purchased at 215-685-0754 or online.
