It’s a long weekend, with Presidents’ Day on Monday, and a solid four days’ worth of activity in Philadelphia.
The National Constitution Center’s blockbuster Bruce Springsteen exhibition officially opens its doors today, the Independence Hall scaffolding has come down and the city will celebrate with a special ribbon-cutting on Saturday and Shane Victorino’s time to shine on Hawaii Five-0 is here at last!
There is also a slew of brand new boutiques open, and you have an extra night this weekend to try out one of Philadelphia’s many decorated restaurants. In all, it’s set to be an awesome holiday weekend.

In town this weekend? The Franklin Institute is celebrating Presidents’ Day with three days’ worth of special events, extended exhibit hours and more.
Activities include: train rides (Saturday-Monday, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), papermaking using pulp made from recycled office paper (Saturday-Monday, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.), eye dissections of a real cow’s eye (Monday, 11:15 a.m. and noon) and sheep’s heart dissection (Monday, 12:45 p.m.).
You can take part in some chilling science with liquid nitrogen at the Liquid Air Show, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and Monday at 1:30 p.m, or learn about the ways fossils form and make a fossil rubbing to take home, Sunday 12:30-1:30 p.m.
The Dinosaur “Roar-off” is set for Sunday at 3 p.m., when visitors can show off their best dinosaur impersonation, in honor of the Giant Mysterious Dinosaurs exhibition, which is open specially late with last entry at 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.
Lastly, you can take a look at the sun through the historic Zeiss refracting telescope and learn more about telescopes and astronomy in the Joel N. Bloom Observatory, Saturday-Monday, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
