Tomorrow is National Bike to Work Day which suits me just fine, since I’ve never owned a car in my life. It was very easy to relate to Steve Carell in the 40 Year Old Virgin when he told his girlfriend that he had a bike, not a motorcycle, but a bicycle.
My two wheels have taken me all over Philly for more than 8 years. I never worry about gas, insurance or parking fees… all making for a greener Philadelphia.
And now is the perfect time to rediscover the joy of riding since our honorable Mayor Michael Nutter will offer his own pedal power on a commute from the Art Museum to City Hall on Friday morning.
All are invited to join in and if the commute leaves you a bit winded, simply reenergize with a cup of coffee or tea with a toasted bagel, complements of Express Breakfast & Lunch and South Street Bagel Company at the Temple University Broad St Plaza across from City Hall.
With gas prices rising ever week, isn’t it time to put foot to pedal? C’mon, let’s ride!

Bikes, FTW!
I rode mine in yesterday - http://thepovertyjetset.com/2008/05/14/i-rode-my-bike-to-work-today/

Yessss! I like Mayor Nutter and I like bikes. I will ride my shiny new bike to work tomorrow and hopefully it won’t get stolen.

Car free and riding my bike every day since I moved up here. This year alone, over 5000 miles on the bike. Couldn’t be happier or skinnier. And the gas savings are great.
