Pump up your tires and get ready to roll! This coming Saturday, don’t miss the 3rd annual Philadelphia Urban Farm Bike Tour! Ths year, join over 60 fellow riders to start at Weavers Way Farm (1100 E. Washington Lane ), on July 19th at 8:30 a.m. The bike tour will be approximately 25 miles, and will end at the Philadelphia Brewing Company in Kensington around 2:30 pm. The terrain is easy, there’s plenty of good company along the way, and riders of all ages and levels are welcome. In addition to Weavers Way Farm, this year’s ride will be stopping at Martin Luther King High School student farm, Mill Creek Farm, Spring Gardens, Teens4Good Farm, and GreensGrow Farm. At each stop, staff and volunteers will be on hand to talk about their projects and give tours.
Riders are asked to bring a $10 cash donation with them to the start of the ride to help pay for pizza at the end of the ride. Additional proceeds will be divided among the farms participating in the tour. Riders are required to wear helmets.
After the ride is over, a working version of the film that’s being produced about the Women’s Garden Cycles Bike Touron urban farms and gardens in the Northeast will be shown at 5 p.m. that evening. The film will be screened at the Video Library, 7141 Germantown Avenue, and the women who did the tour will be on hand to talk about it. The film is about 40 minutes and there will be discussion afterwards.

I hope you do another version of this at the end of the Summer when it is hopefully cooler. I’ll bring my whole family. Today, however, I admit that the weather is a monster I can’t deny…
