Elixr Coffee Wins KRUPS Best Brew Award For Best Philadelphia Coffee

The votes are in! The “KRUPS Best Brew Awards 2012,” a campaign introduced to discover the best coffee shops across the nation, has named Elixr Coffee in Center City the best coffee shop in Philadelphia. Determined by a public vote and call for entries through the KRUPS Coffee Facebook page, the lineup of nominees also included coffee standouts Ultimo, Nook Bakery & Coffee Bar, Shot Tower Coffee and Spruce Street Espresso (last year’s winner). GQ Magazine Names Mica As One Of The 10 Best New Restaurants In The Country, And Tashan As Home To One Of The 5 Best Dishes Of The Year

Huge news for Chef Chip Roman: the March issue GQ Magazine just named his Chestnut Hill restaurant Mica as one of the 10 Best New Restaurants in the entire country! Mica is only 13 months old, and has already nailed accolades like Food & Wine’s Top 10 Restaurant Dishes of 2011. Chef Roman was allowed to pick another Philly spot to recommend and his choice was the equally decorated The Farm and Fisherman BYOB. But that’s not all. Tashan on South Broad made Alan Richman’s list of 5 Best Dishes of the Year for its Naga Beef Sümi. [GQ]

Food & Wine Name-Checks Vedge As One Of 4 “Better Ways To Eat Out”

The March 2012 issue of Food & Wine includes a Trendspotting piece entitled “50 Ways to Get Stronger, Smarter and Healthier.” In addition to new healthy snacks (kale chips and seaweed sheets, anyone?) and nutritious combinations of food (chickpeas + citrus dressing = Vitamin C Central), the article includes just four restaurants from around the country that help you keep it healthy.
