But the event is more than a dog walk. PAWS partners will be on hand to offer a variety of tasty, fun and educational opportunities and activities for both furry friends and their two-legged owners and lovers.

There will be an ask-the-vet booth, basic grooming services from Suds & Swagger, microchipping, dog obstacle course and bobbing for bones, costume contest, pet portraits and helpful training tips.

There will also be music throughout the day and food and beverages from gourmet food trucks including Pitruco Pizza, Dapper Dog, Chewy’s, Say Cheese, Gozen Yogurt and Buttercream.

WMMR DJs Steve Morrison, Matt Cord, Pierre Robert, Jaxon and Markus Goldman will serve as Masters of Ceremonies. Looking to adopt? Plenty of PAWS dogs will be on-hand looking for loving homes.

Guapos Tacos And Dapper Dog Headed To Lincoln Financial Field For Sunday’s Eagles Home Opener; Stadium’s Other Food Offerings Also Upgraded

Eagles fans are going to have plenty of delicious food choices at the Linc this year — food trucks will now boost the stadium's already impressive roster of Tony Luke's, Chickie's & Pete's, the Schmitter and more. Much like the team that that calls it home, Lincoln Financial Field has made a few big additions to its already strong lineup.

Aramark, who oversees all concessions at the Linc — like they do at CBP — are building on their already impressive offerings of delicious eats at the stadium.

This season, hungry Eagles fans will have a several new and exciting food options to choose from.

Among the additions: a few of Philadelphia’s most popular food trucks will make their way to Headhouse Plaza inside the stadium entrance for each Eagles home game.

The Dapper Dog truck begins its season-long residency at the Linc this Sunday during the Eagles home opener and will feature a signature hot dog from each week’s visiting team’s city, along with selected hot dogs from its menu.

The food truck fun doesn’t end with Dapper Dog. On a weekly rotating basis, it will be joined by other renowned and popular food trucks from around the city. This week, Jose Garces’ Guapos Tacos will be serving up its Mexican menu.

In addition to the Headhouse Plaza’s exciting new dining options, Lincoln Financial Field will be home to two new appropriately named signature sandwiches created by Aramark’s executive chef, exclusive to the stadium:

• Inside LB – Hot London broil with a horseradish cheddar cheese and natural jus served on an onion roll.

• Chop Block – Chopped brisket with a jalapeno slaw and Linc BBQ sauce served on a corn dusted Kaiser roll.

The new food truck fare and signature sandwiches join a host of local favorites that Eagles fans have enjoyed for years including cheesesteaks from Tony Luke’s and Rick’s Steaks, The Schmitter from McNally’s Tavern and the super-popular crab fries from Chickie’s & Pete’s — which are available at 13 different locations throughout the stadium.

Also, Lincoln Financial Field is the NFL’s reigning most vegetarian friendly stadium, as designated by PETA last year, and has added veggie wraps and hummus with carrot and celery sticks to its menu which already features veggie steak sandwiches, vegetarian hot dogs, black bean burgers, and garden burgers.

So to recap, that’s new delicious food trucks in Headhouse Plaza, two new signature sandwiches and new vegetarian options added to an award winning vegetarian menu. Anyone else hungry?

Eagles fans’ first opportunity to taste test the new dining options will be this Sunday at the Eagles home-opener against the rival New York Giants.

Go Birds!

Summer Eats Roundup: Our Top Picks For Some Of The Best Hot Dogs In Philadelphia

From old school frankfurters to haute dogs with toppings galore, Philadelphia has plenty of of places for you to satisfy your summertime hot dog cravings. (Credit: iStockPhoto)

UPDATE: Saturday, July 23 is National Hot Dog Day. Take advantage.

Food trend alert: with last week’s arrival of Hot Diggity!, the recent opening of the new hot dog truck in Memphis Taproom’s Beer Garden, news of another forthcoming hot dog truck in the works (not to mention Shake Shack coming next year), and gourmet hot dogs popping up on the menus of chic restaurants like MidAtlantic and Garces Trading Company, Philadelphia is clearly in the midst of a burgeoning hot dog food trend these days.

Fueling the demand for dogs even higher: summer is here, meaning we are officially in prime hot dog season. So next time you’re in the mood for a delicious dog or two, we double dog dare you to try any — or all — of the following. Enjoy!

Haute Dogs

MidAtlantic: Only serious eaters need apply for the $13 smokehouse dog at MidAtlantic, a hefty house-made version served with fresh kraut and pickles, plus mustard and chips, with an option to add cheese or bacon. Bonus: all July long, MidAtlantic is offering a house-made hot dog and draft beer for just $6!

Delicatessen: The Texas Tamy is a Jewish (albeit non-kosher) spin on an old classic: a foot-long Hebrew National hot dog stuffed with American cheese, wrapped in applewood bacon and served with spicy brown mustard on a grilled roll. Also noteworthy: you can get a foot-long hot dog for $4 as a side dish to accompany any meal.

Garces Trading Co.: Catch a lunchtime Phillies game at Garces Trading Co. on ballpark dollar dog days and enjoy one of Jose Garces’ homemade smoked sausage hot dogs with truffled turnip relish on a pain au lait bun (with a local beer, too!) for $9.

Frankford Hall: Stephen Starr’s latest venture, this killer beer garden in Fishtown, offers up $5 frankfurters on a potato roll with sauerkraut. There’s also a whole sausage section of the menu if you’re hankering for the hot dog’s cousin.

Traditional Hot Dogs

Franks A-Lot!: The steamed links at the Reading Terminal’s Franks A-Lot! have garnered plenty of awards for their plump and snappy texture. The toppings are basic: sauerkraut, chili, cheese and the like — less can indeed be more.

Jimmy John’s: A West Chester institution since 1940, Jimmy John’s is, in their words, “famous for frankfurters.” The natural-casing specimens here can be topped with self-serve helpings from the condiment bar or chili, cheese and bacon from the grill.

Bubby’s Brisket and Bugsy’s Weiners: This takeaway place is hard to find, except if you follow your nose. The all-beef dogs are spicy and salami-like, requiring little to no embellishment, though the Philly (wit Whiz and onions) is a popular choice.

Johnny’s Hots: Early birds are rewarded here, a popular waterfront stand that closes by mid-afternoon. The dogs and sausages, served on pillowy Liscio rolls, are served topped with a fish cake.

We’ve got details on quirky hot dogs, regional-style hot dogs and more, below.
