The fan selected will join 30 Phillies greats on the new Center City Philadelphia mural celebrating the history of the Phillies, set to be unveiled this summer.
• Saturday, March 31: Cheer on Runners at the Phillies Charities 5K, 9 a.m., starts and ends at Citizens Bank Park. The race is sold out, but fans are encouraged to wear their Phillies red and cheer on the 5,000+ runners taking part in the second Phillies Charities 5K. The Red Phanatic will lead off the race.
• Sunday, April 1: Center City is turning red in honor of the Phillies’ return home from Spring Training in Clearwater. Be on the lookout for a red Boathouse Row, as well as a giant Phillies “P” on the 29-story Cira Centre Building. The PECO building Crown Lights will also have a unique “Welcome Home Phillies” message displayed for all to see.
• Monday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 3: The Phillies “On-Deck Series” features a spring training-like atmosphere filled with prizes and surprises. Both games against the Pittsburgh Pirates include unique player and alumni interactions with fans, merchandise specials and entertainment.Tickets are still available online or by calling (215) 463-1000. Thursday, April 5 at 1:35 p.m. against Pittsburgh is the Phillies’ first official game of the season, and the Phillies home opener against the Miami Marlins is set for April 9 at 1:05 p.m.; until then, we’ll be sporting our Phillies red proudly.

Mural Arts headed down to Clearwater last weekend for a special Community Paint Day for the Phillies Mural with none other than the Phillies themselves.
The mural artist David McShane helped the Phils get down and dirty with paintbrushes and canvas as they contributed their own brushstrokes to what will eventually become an eight-story mural in Center City on the face of a building at 24th & Walnut Streets.

One of the early sound bites coming from the first few days of the Phillies Spring Training is this gem from one Roy Halladay: “The greatest thing that’s ever happened to me was coming here,” Halladay said. “People have been great to me, they really have,” he continued. “It’s been unbelievable. [...] It really has been an unbelievable experience, and I’d tell any player that. The fans are phenomenal. There’s nowhere like it in baseball right now. It’s been an incredible run, something that hopefully continues.” We think you’re pretty great too, Doc! Go Phils! [Inquirer]

A few weeks ago, we told you that Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino was slated to guest star on an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-O. Well, the episode will air Monday, February 20 on CBS and unlike recent television appearances by fellow Phillies Ryan Howard and Chase Utley on It’s Always Sunny, or the Phanatic on 30 Rock, Shane won’t be appearing as himself, but will be showcasing his acting chops (alongside Olympic speed skater Apollo Ohno, who is also guest-starring in the episode) playing a business executive named Shaun on a company retreat. On last week’s episode of 30 Rock, Liz Lemon shared a theory about the Phillie Phanatic, mentioning America’s most beloved mascot in the dialogue of the episode. On this week’s episode, Tina Fey and 30 Rock both upped their Philly cred to an entirely new level when the Phillie Phanatic made an actual guest appearance in the episode, clip above.
A little context: Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) got his boss, Hank Hooper of Kabletown (the company on 30 Rock that is a stand-in for Comcast) a “Business-versary” gift, to mark the one-year anniversary of them working together. Long story short, a day with the Phanatic was part of the gift. Unfortunately, it was delivered to the wrong floor and hilarity ensues.
The Phanatic even speaks(!!); 30 Rock translates the Phanatic’s squeaks into subtitles, and well, you’re going to have to watch for yourself.
Liz Lemon got a big kick out of it. And so did we.
