Penn Hosts #21 Harvard This Friday Night At The Palestra

It’s not every year that the Ivy League has a team ranked in the Top 25 in the nation. But this year they do. And it’s the Harvard Crimson, who at 20-2 on the season, are now ranked #21 in the country. Harvard is coming to town this Friday night for a showdown with the Penn Quakers at the Palestra. The atmosphere at the Palestra is going to be electric, with Penn’s student section coming out in full force for the big rivalry game. Moreover, the postseason implications: Penn is 4-1 in the Ivy League and needs a win to improve their chances at the Ivy League crown. Tickets are $14. [Penn vs. Harvard]

Winter Classic Countdown: New York City’s Empire State Building Turns Flyers Orange

As part of the countdown to the 2012 NHL Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park, the New York City skyline lit up in the colors of the two teams this Wednesday, December 28. The world famous Empire State Building was aglow in Flyers Orange, at least its north and south sides were (the east and west sides of the building were lit in the Rangers’ colors). Kind of cool for the Flyers colors to be taking over one of New York’s most famous landmarks. Meanwhile, back in Philly, the PECO building is reciprocating by running both the Flyers and Rangers colors along its LED crown lights. []
