The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team is heading to Philadelphia May 27 for their second-to-last domestic game before departing for the 2012 Olympics in London. They’ll be battling China at PPL Park in Chester for the second time; the two teams also met at the home of the Philadelphia Union in October 2010 in what was the U.S. team’s first match there. It ended in a 1-1 draw. Tickets starting at $22 are on sale to the public online. The U.S. Women’s National Team is 10-1-1 in 2012, having scored 55 goals and allowed five. Let’s go USWNT! Back in January, we shared the awesome news that Philadelphia was selected to host the 2012 MLS All-Star Game on July 25, marking Philly’s first All-Star game in any major sport in more than a decade. But it’s not just great news for Philadelphia, it’s also a huge coup for Philadelphia soccer fans, who’ll get to see some of the sport’s greats lace them up on our home pitch at the gorgeous PPL Park on the Chester Waterfront. And now comes word of the opponent for the All-Star Game: it’s Premiere League powerhouse and Champions’ League semifinalist Chelsea FC. Tickets go on sale May 9. [MLS]
