Free CakeCups @ Whipped Bakeshop This Saturday

Whipped Bakeshop, a Fishtown bakery that specializes in seriously artsy baked goods, was awarded the title of Best Cupcakes in Philadelphia in this year’s Best of Philly. And to celebrate, they want you to stop in for a free bite.

This Saturday, July 31st, swing into Whipped Bakeshop for a free CakeCup… you heard me. It’s exactly what it sounds like, a big ol’ cup full of cake. Check out a photo of one, here.

Make sure you mention the Best of Philly award, and they will hook you up. Supplies are limited though, so get there early.

Phillies Cupcakes From Fishtown’s Whipped Bakeshop

Earlier in the week, we featured some of the Phillies-themed confections that area bakeries are offering as a way to celebrate our boys in red and white. We got an email late yesterday from our friends at Whipped Bakeshop (after operating out of borrowed and rented commercial kitchens for the last couple of years, they finally have some swanky new digs all their own in Fishtown) saying that they too are selling Phillies cupcakes right out of the case.

They come in chocolate or vanilla buttermilk and are frosted with vanilla buttercream and topped with a Phillies logo “P” in red and a blue star. At $3 a pop, they are a little pricier than some of the other options around town, but having had the opportunity to snack on cupcakes from Whipped Bakeshop on multiple occasions, I can promise that they are worth the price.

Phillies Fever: Here Comes the Bride…and Our Second Superfan

Phillies cookies were prepared by Whipped Bakeshop for the wedding. (All photos supplied by J. Raab)

Phillies cookies were prepared by Whipped Bakeshop for our second Superfan's wedding. (All photos supplied by J. Raab)

Thank you all for your Superfan submissions — keep ‘em coming!

What follows is the story of Superfan Jonas Raab, his thoughtful wife Alexa, and how the Phillies made their mark on the couple’s recent wedding.

I’ve been a Phillies fan pretty much since birth. So when I got married this month, my then-fiancée-now-wife Alexa (also a huge Phillies fan) and I felt it only appropriate that there be a Phillies presence at the wedding.

Since we were unable to assure our guests that we’d have a Philadelphia Phillie in attendance, we came up with another way…a tasty, delicious way: Philadelphia Phillies cookies made by the fine folks at Whipped Bakeshop.

And, as a special surprise to me, my bride had a Phillies groom’s cake made by Frog Commissary Catering.

What makes us Superfans? Well, we said our vows, and we were pronounced man and wife, but the Phillies touch was what really sealed the deal.

The groom's favorite shirt, and the special Phillies cake his bride had made for him.

The groom's favorite shirt, and the special Phillies cake his bride special-ordered for him.

Congratulations, Jonas and Alexa! We now pronounce you Superfans.
