Select plants from the Flower Show (including the Pele’s Garden display at the entrance to the show) will be available for purchase for card-carrying PHS members. It’s super simple to become a PHS member; click here to get set up in a matter of seconds. Benefits include free Flower Show tickets, discounts at local garden centers, discounted admission to Chanticleer in Wayne and Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia and much more.
The first 100 members to arrive at the plant sale will be entered into a raffle to win a $100 gift certificate to Meadowbrook Farm.

• Art in City Hall Fiber Arts exhibitions opening: To show support for this year’s FiberPhiladelphia textile arts festival, Art In City Hall is presenting two exhibitions: Meta-Fiber, a group exhibition featuring local artists using repurposed materials in the context of fiber arts; and Philadelphia Yarnbombing 101, an installation and photography exhibit by IshKnits, a.k.a. • Philadelphia Orchestra’s Beyond the Score® Concert: Delve into the story behind Mozart’s final piano concerto, No. 27, in a special concert tonight in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center. Join the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia as Jonah Lehrer, journalist and author of Proust Was a Neuroscientist and How We Decide discusses his new book, Imagine: How Creativity Works at World Cafe Live on Tuesday, March 20, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Lehrer, Contributing Editor for Wired, a Wall Street Journal columnist and a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and Radiolab, debunks the myth that creativity is a gift possessed by few. He’ll share how everyone can make companies more productive, neighborhoods more vibrant and schools more effective.

What better way to spend St. Patrick’s Day this Saturday, March 17 than by watching the USA battle Ireland in a Rugby League match?
The American National Rugby League will host an international match between the USA Tomahawks and the Ireland Wolfhounds, vying for bragging rights in the Donnybrook Cup.
The Tomahawks are looking for revenge after a disappointing 26-8 loss to the Wolfhounds in last year’s Donnybrook Cup, making for an especially cutthroat face-off.
Not only that, but the game is followed by a local Celtic rock band Blackthorn concert at Harrah’s Chester, making for a quintessentially Irish Saturday.
Head out to Quick Stadium on the campus of Widener University for a full day of rugby action. The Tomahawks, the U.S. National team, is currently ranked 11th in the world, consisting of all the best players in the American National Rugby League. The Wolfhours are ranked 12th.
Later, at the concert, drink specials include $3 Jameson Irish Whiskey and Killians (4-6 p.m.) and $3 Miller Lites until midnight.
Advance online tickets are $5; tickets at the gate are $7 for adults and $2 for students and all kids under 16 are free. A joint Rugby and Blackthorn concert ticket is $15 and Blackthorn tickets are $12 at the door at Harrah’s Chester.

New Filmmakers Weekend is your chance to see the impressive work of up-and-coming local filmmakers, including the national premiere of a the 3D 'The Rabbi’s Cat.' (Images courtesy PJFF)
The Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival is going 3D!
The PFJJ presents their 15th Annual New Filmmakers Weekend on March 17–19, including the festival’s first-ever 3D film screening. The movie is The Rabbi’s Cat, and it also happens to be the national debut of the film.
The New Filmmakers Weekend offers first-time filmmakers an opportunity to share their first feature film with receptive audiences. By honoring the efforts of these up-and-coming filmmakers, the program serves as a springboard for their future success.
Three filmmakers are honored with Local Theme, National or International Awards of Excellence in Filmmaking. All film screenings will be followed by a filmmaker interview with local Author and Journalist Carol Saline.
Since its inception, NFW has honored more than 75 new filmmakers for their tremendous achievements in filmmaking.
New Filmmakers Weekend Schedule:
• Saturday, March 17, 8:30 p.m., Prince Music Theater, $12: To Save a Life. In the spring of 1939, a Philadelphia Jewish lawyer and his wife embarked on a bold plan to rescue 50 children from Nazi-controlled Vienna. Gilbert and Eleanor Kraus traveled into the heart of the Nazi empire, and created an enduring legacy.
• Sunday, March 18, 3 p.m., Rave Cinemas, $10 General Admission, $9 seniors/students: The Rabbi’s Cat. PJFF’s first 3D screening ever! The setting is Algiers, 1920’s. The delivery of a box from Russia complicates things for Rabbi Sfar when a painter is discovered inside. On a quest for a mythical city in Africa, he sets off on an adventure, taking with him the Rabbi, his cat, a wise old Arab Sheikh and an eccentric Russian billionaire.
• Sunday, March 18, 7:30 p.m., Prince Music Theater, $10 General Admission, $9 seniors/students: Paul Goodman Changed My Life. A treasure trove of archival multimedia weaves together a rich portrait of an intellectual heavyweight whose ideas are long overdue for rediscovery.

Up-tight lawyer Lenny Rubins has to put his dream retirement on hold when his ailing mother emotionally blackmails him into reuniting his estranged children for a Jewish holiday.

Join Midtown Village’s Opa in celebrating Greek Independence Day with two special Sunday openings, March 18 and 25.
After the Greek Independence Day Parade on the Ben Franklin Parkway March 18 at 1 p.m., keep the party going at Opa with great drink specials and their delicious traditional Greek menu. They’ll be playing Greek music and proudly waving Greek flags.
Then on Sunday, March 25 starting at 5 p.m., celebrate the official Greek Independence Day with a DJ and live entertainment. Throwing of napkins is encouraged. Opa will feature a special menu including mezedes (small plates) and traditional fare like Bakalao.
