Some time back, I wrote about Philadelphia’s amazingly effective global peacemakers, the IVC. As they like to say about their refreshingly natural approach, “IVC is international relations as it should be - one person, one handshake - at a time. Making friends leads to peace - it really is that simple. IVC gives you a tangible way to make friends & improve the image of the U.S. abroad. Become a participant, not an observer - join IVC today!”
As they do every summer, the International Visitors Council is having their ONLY annual fundraiser with their Annual IVC BBQ on Thursday, July 24th.
The barbeque is being held indoors at the College of Physicians on 22nd Street between Market and Chestnut. For those of you who don’t know, the College of Physicians is also home to our illustrious and unapologetically morbid Mutter Museum. So, if you can handle really great barbeque and The Soap Lady all in the same day, you’re in luck! Admission to the Mutter is free with the price of the BBQ.
Expect good food, good conversation, international wines and lots of local beer.
In times of general belt tightening, I consider my fundraising choices carefully. I believe in the IVC’s mission, a local organization that sure as hell acts globally for the benefit and general health of all Americans and our relationship with the world.
