Just a baby at around two months old, The Random Tea Room is quickly developing a name for itself among the hip and healthy here in Philadelphia. A quirky little spot with funky décor that you can take with you (the shelves are lined with vintage and antique pieces available for sale). There are also fresh baked goods and French pressed coffee. But the reason to be there is the selection of over 40 artisanal teas and house blended herbal infusions.

Tea has been served for it’s medicinal properties in countries throughout the world for centuries. Random Tea Room brings those teas from the four corners of the globe to Fourth Street. At the Tea Room you can experience the black teas of Sri Lanka, organic Rooibos from South Africa or Yerba Mate from South America. For those looking for specific remedies, infusion guru, Jor Kane, has some interesting combinations to help sooth what ails you. Feeling a bit run down from breathing in bus fumes? Try his Respiratory Rescue, a blend of nettle, dried ginger, mullein, licorice, lemon and elder berries. Office stress has your tummy in a knot, try his Belly Blend–a combination of peppermint, fennel, licorice and dried ginger designed to soothe the digestive system. The spirit is also given a reprieve here with the friendly staff, soothing music and low key vibe. For the external side, there are skin care products to nourish the body and locally made jewelry to adorn it.

Stop by: owner Becky Goldschmidt is sure to be around to offer a welcoming smile and friendly conversation.
