Weekend
El-P w/ Mr Dibbs, Dizzee Rascal, Busdriver
First Unitarian Church, 22nd and Chestnut
International juggernauts of not-quite-Hot97 hip hop. El-P is responsible for the Def Jux label and god knows how many amazing tracks. Dizzee Rascal is the dude everyone first looked at when grime exploded a couple years back. Busdriver is the fastest fastrapper out. Wear a gigantic hoodie and your craziest hightops, and please don’t tag the bathrooms. 8pm, $15.
Art Stuff
Mike Stein (the Traffic Skateboards dude) has an art show at Exit Skate Shop, at 440 E Girard. He’s got some new paintings of his friends and a new limited edition Traffic board. Adriane Dalton has new drawings at Benna’s at 8th and Wharton. 6-10pm, free.
You Call This Music? Around Town
Noise/basement/whatever shows tonight:
1) Neon punks = Pomeranian Gameboy wailing at PIFAS with Narwhallz (literally, he plays Gameboys and his songs are pretty much all about poms; Richmond), DJ Dogd–k (ex-Nautical Almanac, Rubbed Raw; Baltimore) and Adventure (Baltimore) battling Philadelphia’s DLMG, Suicide Magnet and Mark Price’s migraine jam band Cars Will Burn. That’s at 9pm; a philosophy discussion group about house pets and animal hospitals precedes at 6pm.
2) Classic West Philly style punks = Serpents of Wisdom (one of the top four INC sets two weeks back; electric mandolin mayhem) at Beaumont Warehouse at 8pm. Justin Duerr, Bile Green, Oubliette Ensemble and Commodore play too.
3) Black hoodie punks of evil on their way up to No Fun Fest = The Rita, Sewer Election, Kakerlak, Work/Death and Newton at Highwire Gallery, 2040 Frankford, $5, 7pm.
Google any of these bands at your own risk. Bring earplugs and either some rumpled singles or a bag of dumpstered bagels for the touring bands wherever you choose to go.

National Mechs, 22 S 3rd
All of the ex-girlfriends I’m glad I never had to deal with when I was 19 will be at this, but then, probably everybody thinks that whenever I weekend pick some nonsense troll band in a basement that nobody else cares about. Belle and Sebastian on those decks all night long and lots of dudes thinking about how, whoa, we’re 30 now. 9pm.
