[Welcome to our new post series called “Amuse Bouche Philadelphia,” in which we’ll highlight must-try menu items at restaurants and eateries around the city. We’re calling the post series “Amuse Bouche” because like a traditional amuse bouche that you might receive before a meal, these posts are intended to tease and excite your taste buds. Only we’ll have to try to do it visually. Hope you enjoy.]

Beginning Wednesday, April 6, Meritage Restaurant & Wine Bar is bringing back their most requested dish ever: Korean Fried Chicken.

Served as a large plate with collard greens and mac & cheese, Meritage’s tender, juicy, twice-fried Korean Fried Chicken is covered in a sweet and spicy sesame glaze. Go ahead and ditch your fork.

The $18 dinner will be offered every Wednesday and Thursday. According to Chef Anne Coll, raised locally in Media, the size of the restaurant’s kitchen (comparable to an average city apartment’s kitchen) prohibits her from being able to offer the chicken on a nightly basis. But it’s well worth the weekly wait.

Chef Coll’s experience blending traditional French techniques with Asian flavor profiles (which derives in part from her role as executive chef for six years at the French-Asian fusion institution Susanna Foo’s on Walnut Street) sings no more brightly than with this dish.

Meritage’s a la carte menu will also be available.
