The National Museum Of American Jewish History Gets Featured On CBS Sunday Morning Just In Time For Passover

On the eve of Passover, CBS News profiled Independence Mall’s latest addition, the National Museum of American Jewish History, interviewing comedian Jerry Seinfeld on the significance of the institution and his appreciation of his heritage.

Some highlights from the video, above, include Seinfeld attributing his knack for comedy to his Jewish DNA; a look at some of the most interesting artifacts in the museum’s collection (a pipe that belonged to Nobel Prize-winning physicist Albert Einstein; a piano played by composer Irving Berlin); and clips from Seinfeld’s own sitcom.

Great quote from the piece:

“The museum has been ten years in the making. … [Museum president Michael Rosenzweig] says Philadelphia Jewish leaders thought it was important to build the new museum, funded mostly through private donations, adjacent to Independence Mall — birthplace of American liberty.

‘The story we tell in this museum is fundamentally a story of freedom,’ he said. ‘It’s a story about what one immigrant ethnic group has been able to achieve. Why? Because we’ve enjoyed these incredible freedoms in this great nation.'”

  1. This tape was a beautiful expression of all we had hoped people would come away with when visiting the National Museum of American Jewish History. I am proud we did the artifact mounts and installation of these exhibits and would love to get a copy of the tape. Thanks James Leacock
