The World Premiere Of The Mighty Macs, The True Story Of Immaculata University’s 1970s National Championship Women’s Basketball Team, Set For October 14 At The Kimmel Center

Friends, supporters and players from the legendary 1972-4 Immaculata University Mighty Macs will re-live their courtside memories as The Mighty Macs movie has its premieres on Friday, October 14 at 7 p.m. at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall.

The legendary National Championship Women’s Basketball teams are distilled into permanent memory in this film presented by Immaculata University, Sony Pictures and Quaker Media.

Led by Coach Cathy Rush, the Mighty Macs dream teams established Immaculata as nothing less than the birthplace of modern college women’s basketball.

Star players from the teams will be at the premiere, including Coach Cathy Rush; Theresa Shank Grentz, the 1992 U.S. women’s basketball Olympic coach and former head women’s coach at Rutgers and Illinois; and Marianne Crawford Stanley, former head women’s basketball coach at Old Dominion, whose teams won three national championships.

After the movie premiere, all guests are invited to celebrate the Mighty Macs at a ’70s themed disco party in the Kimmel Center’s Commonwealth Plaza, held until 1 a.m.
