Heads up, Philadelphia: We have just two days left to vote for Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz to help him secure a spot on his first-ever MLB All-Star team.
Chooch is currently in third place in voting, trailing Buster Posey (Giants) and Yadier Molina (Cardinals) by a bunch of votes.
The (overwhelmingly strong) case for Chooch: Ruiz currently leads all of Major League Baseball in hitting, with an average of .361. That’s right, he leads the entire league in hitting. He’s second in the league in OPS. He also leads all National League catchers in runs (35), doubles (17), OBP (.427) and SLG (.579).
Plus, he’s been carrying the Phillies all season, while stars like Chase Utley and Ryan Howard have spent the first half of the year on the shelf. Just last night, Carlos hit a clutch solo home run in the bottom of the 8th inning that proved to be the game’s winning run.
So clearly, Chooch is incredibly deserving of our support. So let’s make sure we give it to him.
You can vote online up to 25 times before balloting ends on Thursday, June 28 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Ruiz’s teammates — shortstop Jimmy Rollins, third baseman Placido Polanco and outfielders Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino — remain in the running as well.
The 83rd MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 10.
But let’s make it happen now. #VoteChooch. And pass it along.
