Philadelphia’s Sandwich Supremacy Continues: DiNic’s Roast Pork Sandwich Wins The Title Of “Best Sandwich In America”

No big deal. Except it is. The insanely delicious roast pork sandwich at DiNic's just took home the title of the "Best Sandwich in America" from the Travel Channel. (Photo by G. Widman for GPTMC)

As we alerted you earlier this week, Last night was the series finale of Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America.

Over the course of the summer, the Travel Channel show blanketed the country searching for America’s best sandwich. There were 10 regional finalists as well as two wild card entrants.

Befitting Philadelphia’s aptitude for sandwich excellence — after all, last year Saveur crowned us America’s “Best Sandwich City” — Philly had two sandwich representatives on the show’s one-hour final episode. The roast pork sandwich from DiNic’s was the Northeast regional champ. And then the special cheesesteak from John’s Roast Pork in South Philadelphia was one of two wild cards.

The 12 sandwiches went head to head, before narrowing it down to three finalists: the roast pork sandwich from DiNic’s, a barbecue chicken sandwich from Detroit and another chicken sandwich from Savannah, Georgia representing the south.

We’re very happy to report that DiNic’s was crowned the champion, claiming the title of the best sandwich in America.

For anyone who’s ever had a roast pork sandwich at DiNic’s, you can appreciate the distinction. It is one insanely delicious sandwich.

And for anyone that hasn’t yet had a roast pork sandwich from DiNic’s, you’ll probably want to head over to Reading Terminal Market soon. We have a feeling DiNic’s is about to get even more popular…

Congratulations to DiNic’s on having its roast pork sandwich win the title of Best Sandwich in America.

A very deserved honor. Well done

  1. I asked for the award winner and did not get what is shown in the photo here. It just had pork, some cheese and bitter tasting broccoli greens. Very disappointed.

  2. Who is the guy holding the pork sandwich. He looks like an old friend’s son, do you have a name??

  3. Funny…. I just ordered the same sandwich last Saturday. It didn’t look anything nearly as good as the one in the photograph. I wonder why? Sodalite the same when you see advertisements on TV , then you go to the restaurant & it doesn’t look half as good.
