Get ready for Earth Day (which falls on Monday, April 22) by committing to help “green” Philadelphia by cleaning Philadelphia.

Mayor Nutter’s Sixth Annual Philly Spring Cleanup is set for Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Philadelphians are encouraged to Keep Up The Sweep Up and help rid Philadelphia of litter.

At last year’s event, more than 12,000 volunteers collected 1,000,940 pounds of trash at 33 parks and recreation areas.

Since the event’s founding in 2008, 5.8 million pounds of trash have been collected across the city.

Cleanup stations are located throughout the city, and volunteers are needed all over Philadelphia.

To register at the spot closest to you, check out the online volunteer registration site which is searchable by neighborhood.
