The Philadelphia Science Festival officially gets started this evening (hooray, science!) with the PSF Kick-Off Party: Science Carnival After Dark, a smart soiree at NextFab Studio in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood.

From April 18 to 28, the Philadelphia Science Festival (PSF) puts science in focus for an 11-day run of 100 smart events at restaurants, museums, libraries, galleries and outdoor spaces.

This evening’s amusements include demonstrations of NextFab’s laser cutters and 3-D printers, interactive science stations, live music and flowing adult beverages — all festive fun fit for grown-ups.

Plus, tonight marks the first tapping of Yards Brewing Company’s official Science Festival beer, Pythagorean Beerum, a specially brewed Belgian Tripel ale that will be available at beer-friendly PSF events.

Look out for cool kick-off party collaborators like Mikronesia, Crazy Aaron’s Puttyworld, Little Baby’s Ice Cream, Nerd Nite and Phickle to offer entertainment and a preview of events to come, and get the chance to interact with representatives from other key PSF partners like The Franklin Institute, Drexel University, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moore College of Art & Design, University of Pennsylvania and many, many more.

Tickets are available online.

Bonus: Save $2 on this and any ticket to a PSF event with ticketing code “Uwishunu.”
