More than 2,000 museums across the country take part in a celebration of the military men and women who protect our country. The Blue Star Museums program provides active duty military personnel and their families with free admission from Memorial Day, May 27, through Labor Day, September 2 at many museums right in our backyard.

Dozens of museums in the Greater Philadelphia Area open their doors and tip their hats to active duty military personnel and their family members all summer.

Take up the opportunity to visit The Barnes Foundation which just celebrated its first birthday. Other participating museums include the Please Touch Museum, the Academy of Natural Sciences and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The full list of participating museums (Philadelphia and beyond; it’s in all 50 states!) is available here.

The Blue Star Museum guidelines allow up to five family members in with an active duty military person. Family members include parents, siblings, a spouse, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.

Military personnel, just be sure to bring an accepted form of ID. The full list of accepted identification cards is available here.
