Phenomenal street food fest Night Market Philadelphia returns once more tonight to the streets of Philly with the second event of its 2013 season, transforming West Oak Lane into an alfresco eating and entertainment destination from 6 to 10 p.m.

After a truly awesome start to its season in the Fairmount neighborhood last month, tonight’s Night Market is set to take over Ogontz Avenue from Wooster Street to Middleton Street. These streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from around 3 p.m. on to prep for the eating and drinking extravaganza.

More than 50 food vendors are slated to set up shop along the Avenue, with two beer stands by Sixpoint Brewing Company and food trucks stationed all along Ogontz. (See below for a full Night Market map.)

Alongside the eats and brews, a smorgasbord of live entertainment is slated to keep crowds moving all night long. In fact, this Night Market includes the biggest line-up of entertainment to date!

The weather report tonight looks seriously favorable for an outdoor affair, so get out and get your Night Market fix. Remember, there’s no market in July to make way for all the 4th of July happenings, so if you miss tonight’s event, you’ll have to wait until August on South Street for your next chance at the food truck circus.

Read on for our complete guide to Night Market West Oak Lane. See you out there!

The Food

We know what you show up for. With food and drink options from 52 vendors (at last count), it’s best to come early (to try and avoid long lines) and come hungry (to taste everything).

The fine street food ranges from delicious standbys like tacos al pastor from Los Taquitos de Puebla and pepperoni pizza from Nomad to more imaginative fare like country ham and pickled green tomato biscuits from Supper’s Scratch Biscuits.

In addition to Night Market staples, a slew of new participants are setting up shop. New Night Market vendors to debut at West Oak Lane include Reuben on Rye, Samosa Deb, Surf and Turf and MomPops Popsicles.

Plus, a slew of local vendors will be out on the streets, including Relish (look for smoked turkey legs), Green Soul (look for Cajun salmon BLTs) and Victoria’s Kitchen (look for shrimp po’boys).

The Drinks

No one will go thirsty tonight, either. Brooklyn-based Sixpoint Brewery will be on hand will two booths serving craft brews near Tulpehocken Street and Homer Street. (See map below for locations.)

Besides the Sixpoint beers, look for Philadelphia-distilled gin, whiskey and vodka from Philadephia Distilling and local wine from Penns Woods Winery.

The Live Music and Entertainment

No festival is complete without live tunes to keep crowds grooving, and the lineup at West Oak Lane pays homage to the neighborhood’s discontinued annual jazz and arts fest.

Local entertainment to hit the streets includes Motown tunes by Eva Donaldson School of Music and contemporary gospel by Pastor Carlton Aiken and The Faithful.

Also, keep an ear and eye out for the Kimmel Center’s Youth Jazz Ensemble, Kyo Daiko Japanese drummers, hip-hop artists Halfro and aerialists from The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts.

Beyond the sights, look for the Mural Arts Program’s booth to learn about the ongoing heirloom food programming that’s a part of What We Sow, a new interactive public art project.
