The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Pop-Up Garden on South Broad Street has bloomed into a mecca of summertime entertainment.

From quizzo nights to a nightly beer garden to volunteer opportunities, the garden is one of the places to be this summer.

On Monday, August 5, the garden takes a turn toward whimsy and hosts a fanciful event, Fairytale: A Game of Magic & Storytelling, from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

The afternoon affair, presented by the University of the Arts, invites guests to tap their creative side, letting imaginations run wild to help create an interactive board game.

The hands-on event encourages guests to move modular pieces around a board based on dice they roll and cards they draw while tuning into their creative side and sharing stories of their own.

Players are encouraged to come and go as they please, and folks walking on Broad Street are also encouraged to join in the fun at any point in the game.

All aspects of the event are completely free.
