Beginning on October 1, explore Race Street Pier like never before.

Philadelphia artist, Michael Kiley and his group, The Mural and the Mint, bring a new voice to the Delaware River Waterfront park through a sound walking tour of the pier. The tour, Animina: A Race Street Pier Sound Walk, will be available as an app for iPhones for .99 cents per download.

The app brings Race Street Pier visitors from 2nd and Race streets to the end of Race Street Pier through musical accompaniment. Sounds of existing noises from a typical walk along Race Street Pier make up a song created by The Mural and the Mint.

No matter your walking pace, the app calls on a GPS to coordinate the tour with your steps.

The tour brings guests from the starting point at 2nd and Race streets east on Race street to the end of the Pier and back.

This is not the group’s first dabble in the world of location-based compositions. Previously, the ensemble created a sound walk for Rittenhouse Square entitled The Empty Air: A Rittenhouse Square Sound Walk. The Center City sound tour recently won a Best of Philly award for best app.

Animina: A Race Street Pier Sound Walk is bound to be good.
