This fall, the amazing folks at The Awesome Fest brought Philadelphia its first-ever drive-in movie theater at Eakins Oval.
Heads up, film buffs. If you haven’t been out to experience the drive-in, this Friday, November 22 is your final chance!
Wrapping up its five-week celebration of the 80th anniversary of the drive-in, the Awesome Fest and its partner Enterprise CarShare bring crowds one more night of free, outdoor movies, complete with on-site concessions serving up popcorn, soda, candy and soft pretzels, and food truck eats from Cherry Bomb Bus and Local 215.
Come Friday night, arrive for a double feature screening of two holiday cult classics: John Hughes comedy Planes, Trains & Automobiles followed by the awesomely bad Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
Festivities don’t end with the films on the final night of this series, though. Be sure to look out for Visit Philly to be on hand with a golden ticket giveaway!
To win, come out for the movies and grab a bag of popcorn. If your bag has a golden sticker, you’re a winner!
A sweet lineup of prizes includes seating in one of Enterprise CarShare’s front row cars, a $50 giftcard to Vetri properties (Alla Spina, Amis, Osteria, Pizzeria Vetri), a $100 giftcard to 10 Arts Restaurant and Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia, and two tickets to the KAWS @ PAFA exhibit at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
It’s also Awesome Fest appreciation night, so come out before the first film starts to score free tickets to a special advanced screening.
Tickets for vehicles are still available for Friday, though they are going fast and a sell-out night is expected! As always, attending as bicyclist and/or pedestrian is free.
That’s a wrap, folks.
